The Common Lawyer

A borrower recommended I read Mark Gimenez .

As I was about to head to Sydney (and my e-reader was holidaying in Richmond & Mount Gambier) I grabbed a copy of The common lawyer to read on the plane.

The main character is Andy Prescott - he's a young Texan lawyer (he graduated law school with a solid C average) and runs his own traffic ticket law office out of a room in a tattoo parlour.

His (law) life changes when one of Texas' richest men hires Andy to do some work for him.

Russell Reeves is famous, not only for his wealth, but because his young son is dying of a rare disease.

When he employs Andy as his front man for a local housing project Andy's life changes.

Then Russell hires Andy to find certain women. Each women, it turns out, has a seriously ill child. Except one.

Andy doesn't know what he is looking for but he knows something is not right.

I liked the character of Andy. The book is immensely readable, even though one part of my mind was wondering when something would happen - i wanted to keep reading.

I was a little disappointed in the ending of the book - though, to be fair, i don't really see how else it could have been resolved.

3.5 out of 5.
